ARTICLE 1 – THE EVENT

L’Ariégeoise is a mass cycling event on public roads, organized under the aegis of the French Cycling Federation. It will take place on Saturday, June 28, 2025, and will offer 4 circuits with a start in Tarascon-sur-Ariège and a finish at the Plateau de Beille.

Only the cyclosportive routes will be timed: the Ariégeoise, the Mountagnole and the Rapaillou. The routes “Elles font l’Ariégeoise, La Passéjade / Passéjad’Elec” are not timed and have no ranking.

ARTICLE 2 – ACCEPTANCE OF RISKS

During registration, all participants acknowledge having read these regulations as well as those of the French Cycling Federation (https://www.ffc.fr/la-federation/organisation/reglementation-federale/), accept the clauses in their entirety and accept the risks associated with their participation, including health risks, falls and collisions, as well as risks related to road traffic and weather conditions.

ARTICLE 3 – PARTICIPATION

Cyclosportive events:

  • L’Ariégeoise: open to all, licensed and non-licensed, over 18 years of age on the day of the event.
  • La Mountagnole and la Rapaillou: open to all, licensed and non-licensed, from 17 years of age on the day of the event.

According to the provisions of the French Cycling Federation:

  1. Licensees of the French Cycling Federation or any other federation practicing competitive cycling (UFOLEP, FSGT, FFTRI) must complete the registration form and imperatively attach a full copy of their valid competitive license (2025 season). Non-competitive licenses or licenses other than cycling will be refused.

  2. Other participants (FFVélo licensees or other federations), foreign cyclists (holders of a regional, national and/or UCI license) and non-licensees must imperatively complete the registration form and obligatorily download either a compliant medical certificate of no contraindication to the practice of competitive cycling dating less than one year from the date of the event or the certificate of follow-up of the health module.

New in 2025: You can present a certificate of follow-up of the health module dated less than 4 months before the event by creating an account on the FFC’s licensed space https://licence.ffc.fr/. By successfully following the “Health Module” process set up by the FFC, you will obtain a certificate to download in your file instead of the medical certificate. In the event that you cannot present this certificate, a compliant medical certificate of no contraindication to the practice of competitive cycling dating less than one year from the date of the event will be required (template downloadable from our website).

  1. FFH licensees must download their FFH license and their classification certificate. Non-FFH licensees providing a disability recognition certificate issued by an approved body will not be classified in the disabled sports category.

  2. Minor cyclists, licensed or not, comply with the same rules and must provide parental authorization and a medical certificate of no contraindication to the practice of competitive cycling less than 6 months old.

New in 2025: Minors can present a certificate of follow-up of the specific minor health module dated less than 4 months before the event by creating an account on the FFC’s licensed space https://licence.ffc.fr/. By successfully following the “Specific Minor Health Module” process set up by the FFC, you will obtain a certificate to download to your file instead of the medical certificate. In the event that you cannot present this certificate, a compliant medical certificate of no contraindication to the practice of competitive cycling dating less than 6 months from the date of the event will be required (template downloadable from our website).

Children under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult doing the same route (Passejade or Elles font l’Ariégeoise). This adult is considered to be the guardian of the child under 16 and must supervise the child throughout the hike. The adult parent can supervise his or her child(ren). A third-party adult can only supervise one child. In these 2 cases, it is mandatory to provide parental authorization signed by both parents as well as a double-sided copy of both identity cards. In the event of failure of the referent person, the minor child(ren) is obliged to abandon the hike. All minors must provide parental authorization. The registration of a minor under 16 years old must be done through the adult who will validate the registration file.

It is the responsibility of each participant to ensure that their registration file is complete before collecting the bibs. In the absence of a document, the participant will only be able to start one of our Sports Hiking events.

The 1st, 2nd and 3rd categories will also be given priority on the starting line but these categories will be taken into account only for the scratch classification (FFC regulations).

In addition to the classic criteria, an Otakam index of less than 25 for men and less than 50 for women will give you access to a priority bib (at your request).

All priority bibs on the starting line are credited with the same time. The classification of the first 3 of each race is established according to the passage on the finish line and not according to the time.

Confirmation of registration

A bib allocation confirmation will be sent by e-mail or post for people who do not have an e-mail address. All files must be updated before 06/22/2025 by logging into the personal account using the username and password.

The change of course can be made without extra charge on simple written request via your account and the support request until 05/11/2025. From this date, any change of course will be made at the bib collection only on Friday 27/06/2025 for an additional €10 (modification requiring manipulations on the frame plate by our volunteers). No changes will be possible on Saturday 28/06/2025. The change of course concerns a rider who wishes to switch from the Ariégeoise to the Mountagnole or the Rapaillou or to one of the 2 Passejades and vice versa. Those registered for the Passejade or Elles font l’Ariégeoise (after 04/30/2025) who wish to change course in favor of an Ariégeoise, Mountagnole or Rapaillou on the day of bib collection will have to pay the sum of €20. This sum corresponds to the €10 change of course fee + €10 registration fee for one of the timed races (see Article 4 – Fees).

ARTICLE 5 – REFUND, POSTPONEMENT, BIB EXCHANGE, SENDING OR WITHDRAWAL JERSEY

In the event of impediment for real and serious reasons (accident, total incapacity, illness, death of a loved one, wedding witness) and on compulsory presentation of proof, the participant may request either by email or by post and before 07/01/2025:

  • A postponement of registration for the 2026 edition.
  • An 80% refund.

After these dates and outside these reasons, no postponement or refund will be taken into account. The refund will be made within 2 months after the event.

If you are unable to participate in the event and your registration cannot be refunded or postponed, the organization can, upon written request, send the jersey within 5 months of the event.

Any file withdrawn on the day of the event will not be refunded, postponed or sent a jersey.

Bib exchange

The exchange of bibs, between participants, whether for sale or as a gift, is strictly prohibited. Indeed, a nominative file of participants is sent to the insurance companies at the end of registrations. In the event of an exchange of bibs, the cyclist is not insured and is liable in the event of an accident towards himself, other participants and the organization.

ARTICLE 6 – CLOSING OF REGISTRATIONS

Final closure as soon as the number of 5300 registrants is reached or at the latest June 15, 2025, 11:59 p.m.

ARTICLE 7 – SECURITY

The roads of the Ariégeoise are open to traffic throughout the duration of the event. Participating in a mass event on public roads implies complying with the highway code and any prefectural and/or municipal decrees, using only the right side of the roadway and ensuring your own safety by adapting your speed.

Following cars are prohibited, dangerous, disrespectful of other riders, and therefore undesirable. Any participant with a personal assistance vehicle caught by a commissioner will be disqualified.

The appointed commissioners have the power to sanction, even exclude, and remove the frame plate from any competitor who does not comply with the regulations (throwing waste, dangerous driving, non-compliance with the highway code). Likewise, medical personnel are authorized to suspend and evacuate any participant taking risks that could endanger their health or life. Official doctors and first aiders are particularly authorized:

  • To disqualify any competitor unfit to continue the event,
  • To evacuate by any means at their convenience the riders they deem to be in danger,
  • To hospitalize at their convenience the riders whose state of health requires it.

The participant acknowledges that the chosen route is demanding. He declares that he has benefited from sufficient training and has informed himself of the weather forecast on the route before embarking on it.

To participate in an Ariégeoise, it is strongly advised to have completed a minimum of 4,000 km and 25,000 m of elevation gain since January 1 of the current year; for the Mountagnole and La Rapaillou a minimum of 2,500 km and 10,000 m of elevation gain.

La Passejade and Elles Font l’Ariégeoise are hikes which require a minimum of preparation and physical condition. It is recommended to complete 1,000 km of training and 5,000 m of elevation gain from March 1 of the current year.

ARTICLE 8 – INSURANCE

Civil liability: the organization has taken out a contract through the FFC’s insurer, Gras Savoye, which covers its civil liability as well as that of the participating participants, for material or bodily damage that they could accidentally cause to third parties or cause each other. It only takes effect on the official route and during the duration of the event, for participants duly registered and checked at each checkpoint (timing being authentic).

Bodily injury, personal accident insurance: in accordance with the provisions of article L321-4 of the Sports Code, the organization insists on the importance of taking out a personal insurance contract covering bodily injury to which participation in this event may expose them. It is up to the participants to guarantee themselves against this type of damage. Licensees must check with their federation that they are sufficiently covered for bodily injury incurred during their participation in this type of event. Otherwise, it is in their interest, as well as that of non-licensees, to take out, at a minimum, the proposed insurance, or other guarantees from the insurer of their choice.

In summary :

  • Personal insurance (those linked to the family and home) are not valid on cyclosportives.
  • Civil Liability (“I hurt someone”) is mandatory. It is the organizer who provides this guarantee through its AXA France IARD – WTW contract.
  • Individual Accident (“I hurt myself”):
    • For all FFC licensees, it is the one linked to their license which is active in all cases.
    • For licensees with other federations (UFOLEP, FFCT, FFTRI, FSGT, etc.) and non-licensees, they are not insured for personal accidents by the organization, and must take out other guarantees with the insurer of their choice. This optional insurance is not compulsory but strongly recommended.
  • Material damage and liability: neither the organizer nor its insurer cover damage that may be suffered by the equipment and equipment of participants, particularly in the event of a fall or theft. It is up to everyone to guarantee themselves against this type of risk with the insurer of their choice. Participants acknowledge that the organizers are not responsible for the supervision of personal property or objects in the event of theft or loss. Objects and accessories given to third parties (members of the organization or not) will be under the full responsibility of the depositing participant. Bicycles handed over only to volunteer marshals on the course, to volunteers in charge of the broom wagon or to volunteers in charge of the bicycle park will be under the full responsibility of the organization.

ARTICLE 9 – ASSISTANCE

You must provide your own mechanical assistance. However, the Ariégeoise offers you technical assistance with troubleshooting and liaison. You can find mechanics and small supplies payable on site on the course. If you have not been able to pay, an invoice will be sent to your home. Appropriate medical assistance is provided by: a private company specializing in the medicalization of sporting events, ambulances, fixed Croix-Rouge stations, links with SAMU 09 and Firefighters.

Before the start, it is compulsory to go through the “rider park” corresponding to the chosen circuit for checking the electronic chips. A chip check can be carried out at the exit of the bib collection at the timekeeper’s stand (Espace François Mitterrand hall).

To ensure the smooth running of the event, the organization sets up various checks using electronic chips: at the start, on the course and at the finish. Any participant who has not been registered at one of the checkpoints will not be classified.

ARTICLE 11 – ABANDONMENTS – TIME BARRIERS

Time barriers are put in place at each refreshment point.

Any competitor who is out of time according to the time barrier determined by the organization will be obliged to abandon and return their bib and frame plate to the dedicated volunteer. The organization will offer him a repatriation solution from the refreshment point to the finish site. If the competitor who is out of time does not wish to use this solution offered by the organization, and prefers to reach the finish site, his home, his holiday resort or any other place by his own means, he will do so under his own responsibility outside the organization’s security service.
