La Mountagnole 2025: Conquer the Col de Marmare and the Plateau de Beille!
La Mountagnole, a demanding cycling event in the heart of the Ariège Pyrenees, awaits you in 2025 with a 117 km route and 2800m of elevation gain. Prepare to face formidable passes, including the legendary Plateau de Beille, and experience an unforgettable cycling experience in the footsteps of the giants of the Tour de France.
Col de la Croix des Morts: The first challenge of the day
As with the Ariégeoise, the start is rolling where the only bump before arriving at Bélesta will be the Côte de Nalzen. The first challenge of the day is the ascent of the Col de la Croix des Morts (7km, 403m elevation gain, average gradient 5.75% and maximum gradient 7.80%).
Col de Marmare: Steady climb in the heart of the secret Pyrenees
After the Col de la Croix des Morts, La Mountagnole 2025 plunges you into the heart of the Pays de Sault. This high-altitude plateau, with its forests, meadows and picturesque villages, will charm you with its authenticity. The ascent of the Col de Marmare (1361 m) will be done in several stages: a false flat, then the slopes of the Col des 7 Frères. After a short descent you will see the famous Occitan village of Montaillou before starting the last, more regular part, which will lead you to the top of the pass where you will meet the riders of the Ariégeoise.
Route des Corniches: Panoramas and climbs
The Route des Corniches, with its breathtaking views of the Ariège valleys, will offer you a short respite before tackling the final climb. However, beware of the short climbs and false flats that could surprise you.
Plateau de Beille: The legendary ascent
Finally, the final ascent to the Plateau de Beille. This legendary climb, with its 16 kilometers at an average of 7.9%, has often been the scene of exploits on the Tour de France. The finish at the top, at an altitude of 1785 meters, will reward all finishers with an incomparable feeling of satisfaction.
